Credit Card Via Soft Pull?!

[ Edited ]

Is there any harm in getting these store cards via a soft pull and never using them?

I got randomly Buckle (Too expensive for my taste) and Roaman's(Actually never heard of them), through the checkout trick. (I've been trying forever for Victoria Secret, but I guess they have different underwriting criteria)

I just got them for the hell of it...any harm, besides it will probably hurt my AAOA? Will probably cut them up(literally) the minute they get here...

Re: Any Negative in Getting A Credit Card Via Soft Pull?!

Do you have all these cards? I say, if you don't need it, why get it? It will eventually affect your AAoA.

I don't have all those cards, it's just a reference list of stores that give people store cards with a soft pull via the check out trick....

And just getting them will help utilization...

That's like apping for fun.

If you open too many accounts some creditors might see you as risky but that's about it. and the obvious aoaa drop. inq's. im not sure about the inqs though. i think its like a pre approval that they pull your credit once you accept.

for example at the bank where i work if your pre approved on the line its like half and half.

if your pre approved when doing account maintenance your pre approved and no credit pulled. and my bank specifically pulls eq =/

Oh OK! I think it would be easier to just apply for one big tradeline for util help! Or are you trying to avoid a HP?

harlem furniture?

lol half of these are probably mom and pop shops.

i havent heard of 80% of these stores.

express maybe but their clothes have gone down in quality imo.

edit:btw whats your aaoa?

i wouldnt apply to too many of these. you could get stuck in the "toy" limit hell. and most of these probably if you dont use them for 5+ months could close your accounts for inactivity.

Re: Any Negative in Getting A Credit Card Via Soft Pull?!

I do not think it is any more or less harmful than getting a hard pull for the account. A new account may still cause the score to drop and lenders to wonder what is up with all the new accounts. If you do not need them, I think it is useless to apply for them. I would rather have a card that I know I would use if you are worried about utilisation. You will probably have to use them a few times a year to keep them active.
