Credit card question

I'm new here so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place...I have been working on repairing my credit for quite awhile. My scores aren't too bad except for one. My highest score is 710 which I think is good? Anyway, I'm looking for a decent unsecure credit card that I could qualify for but I'm not so sure I understand how to rate my credit. Is it poor? Good? Or what? My lowest score isn't 600. But the last one is quite good too. This credit thing is so confusing and so frustrating... I made some immature financial decisions when I was young that I'm still paying for today unfortunately. Anyone know of a fairly good credit card that would work for me? Low interest, a fairly good credit limit, ect.... Your advice or tips wil be greatly appreciated!

Re: Credit card question

Good Afternoon,

I would recommend Chase, they gave me my highest credit limit which is 3000.00. At the time i had a secured credit card with capital one for 5 months and the only agency that was reporting my credit score at the time was Equifax because i had a loan from badcock 2 years prior. Did not have a score with TU or EX when applying for the Chase. My equifax was 700+. Did the application online and got instant approval. I was very surprised. The other cards i applied for and got approved for at the same time were Discover IT (1000.00) Walmart store card (850.00) all with a thin file!

6 months later i have Amex (2000.00), Citi (1000.00), Amazon store card (1700.00)

Good luck if you apply Smiley Happy

Re: Credit card question

Do you have any open credit cards now ?    If not then you might need to start with a store card or two ~ many banks would prefer you to have other credit open when you apply.

Also what are the negatives showing on your reports?

Re: Credit card question

Thank you so much..I don't have any credit cards at the moment, however I did have a Capital One in the past that I used and it has been paid off and im in good terms with them. My scores are TU-710, EQ is670, and EX is 567... I wanted a card to continue on fixing my credit but really not interested in secure card...
Thanks again

If you have no cards and your EX is a 567 you're kind of in a tough spot.  Chase will pull EX so Freedom is out.  With a TU score at 710 you can try Barclays but with no open cards that may be tough as well.  I would look at Capital One and see if you can get one of their starter cards (many on this board started there).  I know you are not interested in Secured cards but sometimes you have to start somewhere.

Re: Credit card question

You could also try the shopping cart trick, read here for more information.

It is not a hard pull if they ask for the last 4 digits of your social. Give it a shot, i have a brylane home and onestopplus.com from them. Brylane home is 500 and onestopplus i got 750..
