My guess is since Kohl's doesn't sell furniture/ high end items like Macy's/JCP/Dillard's that's the reason for the $3K cap, cause that's ALOT of clothes and small appliances
That's my feeling as well!
In my case I put Belk in the same category; my credit line with Belk is $5k, but I don't see myself seeking a CLI since the only thing they sell that I buy is clothes - and $5k is more than plenty to buy t-shirts and jeans!

CLI request for Kohl's is a soft pull right ?
Yes, I have not seen anyone on here that received a HP for one. My 2 CLI have both been SP, it is a Cap 1 issued card after all
Thanks Froggie !

Interesting, how long have you had the card? I wonder if you got to that limit before they institued the rule about 3k being the maximum.

There have been recent posts by a few who received a HP. Mine have all been SP, but it looks like that is not always the case.

Kohl's does sell furniture, but for whatever reason they say $3K is the limit. Maybe since Cap1 took over that they don't feel that cardholders need more than $3K. Limit might have been higher when Kohl's was with Chase.
I'm maxxed out at $3k, and it has always been a SP for me.
But, as always, YMMV.

hmmm, I also wonder if the limit was higher when Kohl's issued their own credit cards, which was pre 2006 I believe.
It was a HP for me.
