DCU Denied

DCU Denied my application for a credit card. They said there were too many inquiries total of 25 and 1 collection on my TransUnion credit report. They also pulled a credit report from Experian also. Not sure why they pulled from two bureaus instead of just one.

Re: DCU Denied

I was just approved for membership and they ran my EQ report a few days ago.  I called this morning to see if they would you the same pull for the DCU Plat Visa and they told me it would be another hard pull.  I called 2 more times and spoke to Member services and Loan services and they confirmed that they could not use the same pull from the membership.  I decided not to apply at this time.  They will pull twice and may use mulitple bureaus.

Re: DCU Denied

[ Edited ]

That's weird I thought DCU only used EQ.  I requested they pull TU or EX for my auto loan to try and get a higher tier and they said no.

@BobbyJ, the membership pull is a completely different system, but any credit product uses the same hard pull within 30 days.  I was able to get membership, auto loan, Visa with 2 hard pulls.

Also, I keep my INQs very low, I had 0 INQ on EQ within 12 months, and 1 within 24.

  • Current: EQ FICO 706, TU FICO 701, EX FICO 706 | Starting Score: 525 (05/2012)
  • Starting total revolving credit: $1100 | Current total revolving credit: $36,700
  • Inquiries (12 Months): EQ 2 TU 1 EX 1 | Most Recent: 1/21/2014
Chase Freedom $9500
DCU Visa $10000
Capital One QS $2000
AMEX BCE $3000
Lowe's CC $8500
WalMart CC $3100
BOA Platinum $600

Re: DCU Denied

Thanks Jutz, I am still reviewing whether it is worth applying for the Visa at this time.  I have enough available credit but thought to myself since they pulled for membership why not use the same pull.  That was before I found out that they will pull twice.  Really wanted the free monthly EQ Fico Score anyways.

Re: DCU Denied

It's a worthwhile card in the absence of another high limit, low APR card, but looking at your current card lineup I don't see a pressing need.
