DCU "Preapprovals?" Urgent Reply Required!

Hey guys. So I'm in the process of getting a DCU checking account. I got preapprovals for up to $35,000 for an auto loan (don't need), but also a preapproval of a DCU Visa Platinum Card of up to $5,000.

Many people have mentioned applying for credit products through them is a new hard pull. Does it include these preapprovals, or will it come to the same hard pull?

AFAIK it's always a HP with DCU.

If you want the tradeline though, I'd still take it; however, looking at your lineup it's just a tradeline for you.

Thanks Relevate! I'll decline for now, especially since it's simply the regular VISA. I already have enough cards at this point in time and don't need any new tradelines! If they were able to match or beat my Sapphire, then MAYBE i would consider it Smiley Wink

Not yet; will this make a difference? Just did a chat with a DCU LiveHelp specialist and she said it would be two "separate transactions" on my credit.

Also, another question; by using a credit card to fund my account and the membership donation, will this count as a cash advance on my credit card? Or simply a transaction?

It depends on the card you use. I use my debit card when I joined Penfed.

I don't think so; DCU is a pretty popular CU on the various credit forums because of their free Beacon 5.0 FICO and everyone has reported the same regardless of any path taken.

Luckily just asked another chat specialist at the same time! It will be put through as a purchase. Good to know!

I asked because others have posted about receiving an approval then not being able to become a member. Barring any membership hiccups they aren't bad - They are a great little CU ( been a member or 7 years) but they are pull happy.
