Re: DISCOVER CARD

I'm in New York. Discover pulled EQ for my app, and TU for my CLI.

Re: DISCOVER CARD

Not true. I froze my EQ an made them pull TU. I was traveling and told them I didn't have my PIN to unfreeze. I said can u pull my TU. they said Sure! I did it when I applied for a second discover an they said yes again. I got denied though because of my recent discover approval. Don't take no for an answer

Re: DISCOVER CARD

Hi folks! Im brand new to the Forum, looking for a bit of advice. Im looking to get a Discover Card, or other major card, hopefully with a 1K limit or above. No lates or other major or minor derogs last 5+ years; do have a Judgment for $2K on Experian and Equifax which will drop off November 2013.

3 low-limit cards, no lates, open about 14-15 months each. Unfortunatley, about 90% utilization on 2 cards, and about 150% utilization on one card, due to fees. Cosigner on auto lease, 14 months in, no lates. Fingerhut account, 8 months, no lates.

About $60K in Student Loans, no lates except ongoing dispute with one student loan servicer; has me 5 months late due to paperwork dispute. This has been removed from Transunion report. Currently making payments on some student loans under Percentage of Income plan at two other servicers, never late.

As of April; 664 TU / 644 EFX / 627 XPN

Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

Re: DISCOVER CARD

That judgement is going to work against you. It's best to wait until it falls off.

Also, your utilization ratio is way too high. You should pay it down and let 1 card report 1-5% utilization and rest 0 balance to maximize your chances. You won't get approved for anything with your current utilization and overlimit on one account
Current cards: Citi Thank You Preferred (20.5k), Chase Sapphire Preferred (15k), Chase Freedom (12k), Chase Amazon Visa (10k), US Bank Cash+ (15.5k), Discover IT (9k), Wells Fargo Platinum Visa (10.5k), Barclay Arrival World MC (8k), Bloomingdale's (2.1k), Macy's (3.5k).

I wa approved for Discover with very similar scores to yours. I was not approved immediately though. I had to call the recon line. I made a good case for myself explaining that I was rebuilding and I had an explanation for any baddies. They gave me a 1k limit although I didn't received the advertised starting incentives. I got 3.89 % interest for 6 months instead of 18 and a high APR after that. I didn't mind however and was thrilled to have obtained my "first" prime card. I say first because I used to be rich way back when and had Amex, chase, Citi, etc...
