So after deliberating on whether I should go ahead and take a hit with a hard pull, I finally went ahead and requested a CLI on my Citi RZMC. It's currently at $1100 and I'd like it to at least match my others at $2500. They denied me, pulling Transunion, with the letter showing my score as a 165(WHAT???!!!!) saying I had a lack of credit history (AoAA is 5.2 Years) and high balances (Uti at 7%) Now, I can see here my score is a 706 and am utterly confused. So I call customer service, who then transfers me to a "credit specialist." Of course the "credit specialist" was outsourced and kept giving canned repsonses and really had no idea what she was doing. She told me to take it up with Transunion.
I'm furious and really debating closing the account.
I know...I have that one too. My limit there is even lower than yours. The same thing happened to me...they claimed they pulled Eq and a collection acct was reported. I have all of the memberships. I could see the hard pull but there was no collection acct on any of my reports.
I felt the same way. I wanted to close the acct.
Dont do it....just dont use it.
It will help with your average acct age.
Use them to help get your score up then get better cards elsewhere.

It will help with your average acct age. Closing an account does not hit your AAoA immediately as it remains on file up to 10 yrs post close.

Request a hard copy of your TU report via US mail using the Citi denial (its free). You will get a letter from Citi as well, make copies of the CR & letter and mail them with your own letter requesting an immediate recon of the CLI request. If this request is denied then you can choose whether or not to close the account, if it has not been open for 24 months I would suggest you SD it and close it after 24 months of history report. Good luck
We'll a 165 score wouldn't be a FICO score, it doesn't go that low. Must be a proprietary score as I don't know any formulas used that goes that low.

I've PIF for the past four months with them, hoping to get in good with Citi now that my scores are all in 700s. I'm just pissed I wasted an inquiry on this crap. They're my only card left with an AF. The problem with closing it is, when Citi took over, they reported as a new account, so I lost the years I had it open before that.
