I was about 15 days from my silver spade, but chose to step out to get my first AMEX card before the years end to set my MSD. Looking forward to that SP 3X CLI on January 31st! Smiley Happy

Checking in for December. This is going to be a tough next week or so for me.

On the one hand, I have my final negative account and last inquiry falling off my report in the feb-april time frame, and would love to see what that does to my scores. On the other hand, I have been thinking about a Freedom for a long time now, and would love to get the $200 bonus which would result in a new inquiry (the original plan was to convert my CSP to the Freedom in January). I also was thinking about locking in 2014 as my MSD for AmEx by picking up a PRG or similar.

My AAoA is between 4-4.5 years depending on the report, and is considered to be negatively impacting my score, according to myFICO. I do not have any planned needs for credit through 2015.

Thoughts?

would you be able to downgrade your CSP to regular CS so you still can get 2x dining , and then do an fresh app for freedom ? Do you not want to take another HP are you trying to get your cr clean for an mortgage or something like that ?

No mortgage planned. I thought about downgrading the CSP to the CS, but I figure between the Freedom and Discover It, I have dining covered for half the year, and my QS gets me 1.5% anyways. Not sure keeping the CS and then taking a HP for the freedom is justification for the extra 0.5% I would gain.

Fair enought, especially if you are going to be using UR points for travel then its probably not worth it. I thnk downgrading to freedom would be an prudent move. In my case i am proabbly going to downgrade to regular CS since i have an freedom already. Going to use ink plus as my transfer to airline card.

I'm very happy with my current cards and hope to work on building my limits and AAoA over the next two years.

Congrats on your approval and setting your MSD, and welcome to the AMEX family.   And welcome back to the Garden...have fun planting your new seedling and don't forget to read up on the 3X CLI thread!   January 31st will be my 91st day since my 181 denial, so I'll be joining your CLI attempt on that day.   Good luck!

smileyhappy: Welcome to the forum and the GC! Page one explains gardening. If you would like a seedling or spade whatever is apropriate added to your signature just ask. As your post count is to low to add html  yourself because of the spam filter. If you have questions feel free to ask.

Thank you very much. If it's not too much trouble, can I get a seedling in my signuature please? Thanks again Smiley Very Happy
