I was happily in the garden, knowing full well that I shouldn't be applying for a bit -- maybe even a year.    Lo and behold, Discover IT sends me a pre-approved application for 0% for  a year with 15.99 APR.   I've always wanted a Discover and I was declined in 2011 and 2012, but now they sent me a preapproval, so maybe things are different! (yeah right, who am I kidding)

I held on to the application for a few days, knowing they pull Transunion and considering my inquires 13, I didn't think I would get it, besides, I just got the USAA World MC-5k limit in Dec, Walmart Discover-3k in Jan, and Macy's Amex-4k in Feb.  I fell for it and applied -- DECLINED -- they cited:  The number of recently opened credit card accounts with balances and a FICO of 756.  Wow, the same FICO that I got from Walmart this month.

Looking at my report, I have 4 INQ from 2011, with Discover being 1 of them.  In 2012  another 6 INQ with Discover being 1 of them and 2 for Student Loan shopping. Another 4 INQ from 2013 with Discover being 1 of them and 2 of the INQ's were for CLI's on US BANK and B OF A.   WOW, so 14 INQ's total now with 3 from Discover.

Off to the garden I go <grumbles> is there a recon #? Smiley Surprised

Recon for sure! I got approved with14-15 INQs on TU. 4k CL, 15.99% apr after 12 months promo.

2013 Approvals: Discover IT - 3/1, Amex BCE - 3/4, CSP - 5/4, Barclay Ring - 6/12, BoA Privileges Cash - 6/27, Citi TY Preferred - 8/6, OCCU Duck - 11/4, USBank (Cash+) - 11/22, Wells Fargo - 12/21, Nordstrom - 12/29

12/19/2013, $100k+ Available Credit. Total Util: 0-1%

[ Edited ]

I'm certainly not good with recons as I tried.  She wouldn't budge -- something about 5 accounts opened in the last 6 months.  I really do have enough accounts and I probably should freeze my reports, so I won't be tempted again!!!!  LOL

B of A  and CITI opened in Oct,  USAA in Dec,  Walmart Discover in Jan and Macy's Amex in Feb.  Utility is like 8% and my AAoA is 3.6 years....................

I'm also an AU on a buddy's B of A Sig with a 25k limit and no balHeart

Thanks for your help and suggestions -- all of you!!!!

Time to garden indeed

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Declined Discover IT

Well, not to rebirth this thread, but now DISCOVER IT sends me another pre-approval, just yesterday with even better terms than the first .....14 months 0% apr and a low rate of 9.99 afterwards

Shakes fists in air

And my bad, since Oct 2012 -- I've only opened 4 cards -- Citi in October, USAA in Dec, Walmart Discover in Jan and Macy's Amex in Feb.   The B OF A was opened in August.    I guess I could of gone  without the Walmart Discover and Macy's Amex
