Declined Discover IT

I was happily in the garden, knowing full well that I shouldn't be applying for a bit -- maybe even a year.    Lo and behold, Discover IT sends me a pre-approved application for 0% for  a year with 15.99 APR.   I've always wanted a Discover and I was declined in 2011 and 2012, but now they sent me a preapproval, so maybe things are different! (yeah right, who am I kidding)

I held on to the application for a few days, knowing they pull Transunion and considering my inquires 13, I didn't think I would get it, besides, I just got the USAA World MC-5k limit in Dec, Walmart Discover-3k in Jan, and Macy's Amex-4k in Feb.  I fell for it and applied -- DECLINED -- they cited:  The number of recently opened credit card accounts with balances and a FICO of 756.  Wow, the same FICO that I got from Walmart this month.

Looking at my report, I have 4 INQ from 2011, with Discover being 1 of them.  In 2012  another 6 INQ with Discover being 1 of them and 2 for Student Loan shopping. Another 4 INQ from 2013 with Discover being 1 of them and 2 of the INQ's were for CLI's on US BANK and B OF A.   WOW, so 14 INQ's total now with 3 from Discover.

Off to the garden I go <grumbles> is there a recon #? Smiley Surprised

Same exact thing happened to me.  I had a preapproval (few months old, but right after I got denied the first time), my fico was 687, and though they told me discover hard pulls at random, they ended up hp TU, which I felt was going to happen.  I knew I would get denied because I have like 14 inqs on TU. If they were to pull EX or EQ, I'm positive I'd be waiting for the card in the mail right now.  So last night, I applied again for the iT Student, just my luck they pulled TU again, and the reasons were the same.

AE CC: $1,050 | AEO Visa: $1,890 | Cap1 QS: $2,100 | Chase Freedom: $1,000 | Citi Forward: $1,500 | Citi Double Cash: $1,000 | Discover iT: $500 | GameStop: $1,650 | Overstock: $1,700 | PayPal Smart Connect: $1,500 | Walmart $2,200

TU (Discover): 663 | EQ (Citi): 651

Re: Declined Discover IT

Sorry about the decline.  I had one myself today.  Since you've already taked the HP, you might as well follow the advice given, and recon.  It's certainly worth a try.
