Re: Declined First-time Credit Application, what do?

Wow, I wish you could've seen my face when I read this post. CSP requires a TL of 5K+ so that wouldn't be an option. Your Advisor is... Well nevermind; and he said you can't apply for another card for 6 Months? Ha! Try saying that to some of us who can't stay in the Garden for 3 aSmiley LOL Also, when hit for an Inquiry, it doesn't show - Approved or Declined.

I started with Discover with absolutely ZERO Credit History - Had to E-mail them a picture of my Social Security card and my Class Schedule and they approved me for 500.

Good Luck on your Journey.

Re: Declined First-time Credit Application, what do?

SLOW DOWN! You need to build up a payment history with the Capital One secured before you apply for more credit. Right now, lenders have no clue what to expect from you because you have no history. But once you build some payment history (6 month or a year), lenders will start feeling better about lending you more credit. Hold off on the applications (inquiries stay on your report for 2 years) and enjoy having your first card. Don't spend any differently than you would with a debit card, pay on time, and start reading these forums for more info. Credit takes time, but you can speed up the process with knowledge. Welcome!

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $50,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Prestige (4/16) $30,000
