I got a generic "recent late payments" denial from Cap 1, too. I had no late payments at all in the past two years, and I actually pulled all my credit reports to check.
I emailed the EO and politely explained why I thought the denial should be reconsidered, got a call back from somebody a couple hours later and answered her questions. The next day I had my CLI.

I actually got that same notice, and called Capital One immediately and was told a generic response. I emailed the EO and still haven't received a call or answer. Ive only have a 30 day late and that was over 3 years ago, my letter stated recently a 60 day late payment. Keep us posted.
