Your not going to find a whole lot of travel cards that give you 2x on everything like the venture. That being said focusing just on the 2x number can be misleading. The draw of cards like the CSP for example is that you get UR points that you can transfer directly to their partners (airlines/hotels etc) and get a better value return than .02 per point. Also the CSP pairs well with the freedom which has rotation 5x categories and the CSP has certain categories where you can earn extra points year round. The venture card is basically a cash back card where you can only redeem for travel (the definition of travel expenses is quite broad though). However, when you go to redeem you have to redeem the full amount. With some Chase travel partners you can redeem points/cash. This is a useful feature if you do not have the points to cover the entire cost but do want to get a heavily discounted price. The benefit of the venture card is you can use it with any hotel/airline/travel partner and no blackout dates apply. However, you would likely be better off with a straight cash back card in that scenario unless you want other features of the venture such as the visa signature status for things like rental cars etc.
