Yes it's the only one I have and it's not a secure card. Thanks for the advice. I would never had applied in the first place, but my credit counselor suggested it.
$300 credit limit for 3 Years & no increase, you need to find out why?
Get your 3 credit reports and dispute any reported negative information.
Since you were denied credit, you’re entitled to a free credit report using the denial letter from Best Buy or Citi Bank which you will receive.
You are also allowed to a free credit report once a Year, from Experian, Transunion and Equifax from: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action
In the mean time, keep spending approximately $200 a Month; using your Capital One Card and pay it in full as soon as you get the statement.
Having a perfect payment history on a best buy card years ago will be no factor in being approved for one right now outside of how any previous revolving cards report. Best buy was backed by HSBC back then and is now backed by CITI. Therefore, Any internal scoring based on your previous payments will not be factored in any more than an old chase card or similar.
Best Buy is a Citi card... Not BK friendly. Only reason I have one is because I got mine with CapOne and didn't know it was switching to Citi a month later.
The closed 1 month account looks so good on my CR.
Thanks for the info. I will call them whenever I get the letter in mail. What are the best cards to try and get to build credit?
I wasn't able to get a Best Buy card when my scores were in upper 600s....

I got one last week store card no AF, instant approval for 2K. BK7 is about 3.5 years old and my scores are in the low 700's. I was actually shocked at the instant approval especially since CITI took over (they wont approve me for any of their normal cards).

+1
Before you app for any more credit, I would suggest getting a copy of your CR. As has been mentioned, you are entitled to a free CR, since you were denied credit.
Citi isn't known for being BK friendly, and they're infamous for blacklisting if they were IIB.

I've tried twice before my scores got over 700 but havent tried since. Citi did eventually approve me for a Home Depot card with an initial limit of $500 which has grown over time, then months later my first signature card the Citi TYP with a $5k limit. It took me about a year to finally get approved though. They are very weird
