Thanks for the support! Thats why I am here.
I am proud of what I have done with no cosigners in the past.
Im just trying to get everything settled and then sit back and watch my scores climb the the 800 club hopefully.
I really appreciate someone understanding what I am trying to do
(and yes to the other guy, I am kinda worried about a CLD.... but gotta do what you gotta do. Being ECU just gave me 5k up on my cc with them when I refied I guess it cant look too bad..... and they gave that to me without me asking)
Good for you!! AMEX might feel you have enough credit relative to your income but it still doesn't hurt to plead your case. Keep up the good work tho....
I think this thread is a good reminder that credit score is only one part of the equation. You're doing fine, but some creditors (reasonably) see you as treading on thin ice. A few mistakes, and they've just lost a bunch of money on you. You may know that you're responsible, and your past shows you are responsible, but you might have reached the limit of what your income will support.
Feel good with you've done. If you keep your utilization low, by the time you get your first real job, you'll be miles ahead of your peers. I wouldn't press my luck too much. A manual review could start a domino effect you don't want.
Sorry for your denial but thanks for shedding some hope for me ... i only make 26000 a year and have 10000 CL.. so hopefully when it is my 61st day i will be able to get an increase..

Are you serious? You only make 20k a year, already have 24k in credit, a brand new car loan (which they will deduct from your stated income as it affects your ability to charge/repay), and you're surprised you got denied a 3x CLI?
You should worry about increasing your income before bragging. 20k is nothing to brag about.
Completely uncalled for. You were 21 at one point so get off your high horse. Young people who have excellent credit for their age and high limits in relation to limited income is something to be very proud of. Because there are still people who are twice the age, making the same money, yet have nothing to brag about. So please, keep the snotty comments to yourself.
Also, If you were to apply for a new revolver, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you a good limit, higher than the rest! I had two amex revolvers both at $2000 before may. I had tried to do 3x cli on both but got denied both, (reason being max credit allowed). However, in may i apped for the BCP and was approved for $5000. So, although the computer may not grant you the CLI, I think a manual review could give you hope. As long as you have low util, good scores, etc.
Good for you on what you've accomplished. I'm in the same boat. 23, didn't have the luxury of a cosigner. So i've built my credit portfolio and got my first car all on my own. Lucky i've found this website when I was 19...keep doing what you're doing. ONly difference...I didn't finish school Of course I didn't have the help from my parents either. At one point, I was working full time, working part time, AND going to school full time....but of course that didn't work out...lol. Currently going to be going back this fall...I really want to get my degree asap. So good for you for finishing!
How old is your Cap 1 card? Does it have an annual fee?
