Been doing some gardening and letting inquiries drop off the past few months. Figured I would go for one or two new cards for the holidays. Normally got instants and 5K or more with past apps/cards over the years, but now, still instant approvals but only 2K ? Went for HSBC gold and BB&T bright, 2K each, and both my lowest limits EVER!
Perfect records, no baddies/lates, overall util 2% and no card more than 18 util. 10 to 12 inq each report.
4x income is quite a bit (I likely won't say that if/when I hit a million, though LOL) but I think this is more a matter of two known conservative lenders. Those credit lines seem somewhat par for the course.
Thanks for the reply K. For some reason, I thought HSBC was a "more giving" lender.
They're generous to their investment clients, but with the limited data points I've seen lately there haven't been staggeringly large starting lines. I know HSBC used to play in the subprime market before those accounts were sold off to CapOne ages ago, but I'm pretty sure they just very recently entered the US market again.
