Does Discover limit cashback on category spending to $1500 per quarter?  

For some reason I've been getting uncapped cashback spending for two months straight.

thats nice to get all that cash back :-) i thought they capped at 1500 like freedom, but i could be wrong.

Discover does limit Cashback on category spending to $1500 per quarter, BUT, there are some things to keep in mind:

• Beyond that $1500, you still continue to earn 1% on everything.
• If you are using Shop Discover, the bonus cashback from ShopDiscover is unlimited.

Discover does limit Cashback on category spending to $1500 per quarter, BUT, there are some things to keep in mind:

• Beyond that $1500, you still continue to earn 1% on everything.
• If you are using Shop Discover, the bonus cashback from ShopDiscover is unlimited.

There must be an error then.  Seems I am getting 5% cashback on all of my purchases at gas stations the past two months.  Hopefullly they won't take back my $500 cashback I earned.

But I did make purchases totalling over 10K at gas stations.

No.

Certainly an expensive mistake for them to make!   Make sure you cash out the rewards ASAP, and if they do find the error and give you a negative reward balance, you can decide whether to close the card or not.

From a max of $75 per quarter to $500 in two months changes the value proposition of the card quite a lot!

They cap the 5% but even you go over they still give you 1%.
