Re: Did all Cap 1 card holders get an email invitation like this to apply for Venture card?

Thanks Icyplaya.  It is frustrating too that when my scores were lower, and I was fresh out of BK, I got a few things approved.  Now it seems I can't get approval on anything and I have a higher score, higher income, everything is better overall, yet no approvals now that I'm doing "better".  I guess all I can do is wait for the BK to drop off and see how it goes then.  Wondering if I should look at (trying to get) a secured card with the credit union I just joined recently, just to have another credit line that could be a year old when my BK drops off.

It takes a lot of time to rebuild credit. I took me 3 years to get a prime card. You have to be patient.

Your CU may be able to give you a nice secured or even unsecured card at this point.

If you very recently joined, and they pulled your credit when you joined, they may be able to use the same credit pull for a card.

DH and I were discharged from CH 13 about 18 months ago.  He has a ten month old car loan through our CU at a great rate.  Last week, went in for a personal loan, which was approved at $8,000; opened checking with $500 overdraft and asked them to consider a joint Visa account.  They approved us for $1,000 CL on the Visa due to our BK, and would consider a CL in six months based on our payment history.  Visa just showed up on our CR's - CL is $10,000.  Love this CU.

We were with another local CU, and didn't have this type of experience wih them.  CU's, as good as they are, vary.  So if you don't have great luck with one, don't give up.

Best luck to you!

Today I got another email from them (with my name and acct# on it again) reminding me I only have 3 days left to take advantage of their offer!  I guess it's all automated and in my case, meaningless!   Oddly I do not see an inquiry on myfico scorewatch monitoring yet..don't these usually show up pretty quickly?

Got my Cap-1 rejection letter and it says if I "have additional information I'd like them to consider, send it to them with the ref. #"  ????  is this an invitation for another 3 credit bureau pull, to consider the information I would write them about???   A part of me wants to reply and tell them I'm not too happy they solicited my application (with 2 emails) and to ask if they gave out my info because I just got a telemarketer call on my cell phone yesterday saying "have you recently been turned down for a credit card."  Happy to report I did take advice from you guys and applied for and got an Alliant CU credit card.  Yay me, and thanks you guys!

This is a recon (most likely). Send them what they are asking for and they (may approve you after receiving the doc). Sometimes it works as an identity verification. Same happneed to me, sent my docs back and got a $500 limit, then jumped to $750 after the 4th statement (credit steps CLI). There is an Account Specialist backdoor number thread (locked for permanent reference) for Cap One as well where you get directly to a specialist.
