Was just wondering why does Diners Club charge for an additional card?
To cover their extra cost for the services and value of that extra card or simply because to make more money as people are willing to pay for the extra card for someone else

It may have to do with lounge access. Correct me if I'm wrong, both DC consumer cards have lounge access and maybe your AU will also benefit from lounge access, therefore they charge a fee for AU.
Now if your question is regarding a fee assessed when requesting a "backup" additional card, then that may not be the answer.
