i know your right and i really REALLY want that darn card, so bad i can nearly taste it lol, but my score just isn't where i need it to be yet to apply for it. its definetly on my "to get" list.i got approved for it with 676 EQ with 2000 cl.
wow thats pretty darn good! Unfortunately, im stuck in "toy limit hell" right now and im afraid if i applied now id be stuck with another limit like i already have.
Discover needs to step up with their promotions. Their merchant fees are higher than Visa/Mastercards, so I really don't know why their rewards suck. 2% is great, only if it is on everything, all the time.
I take what I can. My AMEX BCE isn't here yet, so using this for groceries was good for me, even though it wasn't 3% like AMEX. This card will prove useful next quarter however. I can do some serious damage with the holdidays coming up. I just wish someone else had gas in rotation for the 4th quarter.

IIRC Schwab is dead not sure about Fidelity what other 2% cards are there?

Not true. Discover interchange fee is mostly the same as Visa/MC. You might see merchant account (for small biz) to price Discover slightly higher. However on retail and acquiring bank (provider of merchant account) perspective, Discover charges just about the same as Visa/MC. In fact Visa/MC charge higher interchange fee for Signature/World.

There's the Capital One Venture Card, but it has a $59 annual fee. Then there's the Priceline Rewards Visa, but it's a visa signature, so it's somewhat harder to qualify for.

Cool-Discover offers consistently strong cs, often willing to go above and beyond with small things to treat a card holder right IME.
And they're always so peppy and cheerful sounding, like a ray of sunshine on the other end if the phone..
