Discover CLI: I turn 6 months on Sep 29 (UPDATE: $2K CLI today)

I did it also since i start my discover more around the time john did. I called late last night after viewing the thread and i did  have option 5 but did  not have the option for CLI. I was thinking maybe they wont offer it since they gave me a automated increase like 2 months ago of $1,600 to bring me to a total of 9.6k.

Called today 9-28-2009 during business hours and the option was there hit it asked for 3.4k and they came back at 2k i accepted am now at 11.6k pretty nice.

Would this also apply to the student discover more card. Im not planning on asking for a CLI now since my account is only two months old. Im just wondering?

Wait until you get your 6th statement on your new card before you call for a CLI.

I called Discover for a CLI today and to my surprise they gave me MORE than I asked for! 

I had this card for over a year, original CL was $1k and they upped it automatically to $1250 6 months ago. 

It was my only card 6 months ago. Since then I got 2 new prime CCs in April and 3 new prime CCs in July, so 5 new accounts total.

My average CL yesterday was around $2.3k and highest CL $4k. Low utilization.

I called and I asked for $750 increase and it said that my credit line can be increased by $1000 and I accepted the offer.

New CL - $2250! 80% increase... When it asked why I am requesting an increase, I chose "Other".

 I guess I should have asked for more. :-)

I took a chance and went for #2 CLI in a month with them and failed. I hope I didn't wake the AA monster

  My line with them stands at $7490.

It has only been 4-5 mo. since I split my CL to open a business account.  That reduced my CL from 9,500 to 4.5K on my "More" card and 5K on the business card.

So, I called in for a CLI.

The CSR said "NO"

I said "RECON". 

She said "Hold for an account specialist".

After bantering with the AS, she offered 2K (I had asked for 5K)

I said "OK"

It's a very good day . . . .

thanks Score . . . . she also told me two things that might be of interest:

1.  Because of the "Current Economic Climate", Discover is not granting CLI's for more than 2K at this time.
2. To minimize their exposure, they are not granting ANY business CLI's in the immediate future.
