I got my Discover More card December 25, 2011 at a 1k limit, then I got bumped to $1,350 after 3 months and $1,700 after 6. I stopped getting the increases and began to wonder. I called a month ago and the CSR said I was enrolled in some auto review program and that I should be reviewed anytime. Well a month later I still had not received my next bump. I called Friday when I noticed my CLI request link would not work, then the automated phone line increase never appeared as an option for me. The nice CSR said she was unsure why and I explained I wanted to get an increase with no hard pull. After about 5 minutes on hold (CSR to Supervisor chat) she said we could go through the process and it would tell her if it was a hard pull or not, it was not and I got a firm DENIED...sorry you will receive a letter.
I got the recon # of the forum Saturday morning and called. The gentlemen in Utah was very nice and he confirmed the inquiry the day before was a soft pull and listed the reasons for denial. I gave him blow by blow of what would show on a hard pull and he said that it seemed reasonable to be able to get an increase if I did a hard pull, so I agreed. A few minutes later he was able to explain the actual cause for the denial and we discussed it and he asked what I was looking for, I said $3,000 total CL, he said that would not work, instead $5,700 would!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hit the floor, he gave me an increase of $4k on the recon with a 660 FICO.
Background with my Discover, I have put on average $1,300 a month through the card and PIF before cycle ends each month.
I have a forclosure 3 years old, a "collection" from AMEX of $0, which was the reason for denial, 3 accounts with multiple 30 day lates, 2 of them have several 60+ lates, but all deliquincies are 2+ years old.
$30k Capital One ---AU
$11k Citi Simplicty -- AU
$1.6k Amex Delta Platinum
$5.7k Discover
Prior to CLI I had a 14% util
Gotta love my Discover!!!!!!!!!!

I love how usual CSR's are a waste of time generally =)
Recon specialists or underwritters are the way to go!
I think this helps weed out bad people more, cause if you do the research to find a better number, then people usually need the increase =)
