Re: Discover Card

I had a 712 a year ago and was approved for 3,500. I thought that was HUGE for me! They're so far slow with the increases. They've given me 1 with a SP and a letter sent to me going up $200. I would really enjoy finding out how they decide because my girlfriend just got approved for her Discover More from her pre-approved offer a month ago, her score was 717 and only a 2,500 CL. I find that alone interesting.

Re: Discover Card

Yeah it's definitely interesting. I applied after being invited to apply after pre-approval. I'll report back when I get the actual card as to if that credit limit sticks.

Re: Discover Card

I just called Discover to confirm the CL and I do in fact have a CL of $11,300. This is unreal to me!

I was just applied for a discover card, and when I go to check the status it says I'm approved for a credit line of $11,300. Is that normal to be approved for a credit line that high?

Re: Discover Card

Sometimes they will double your total cl and give you that as your limit or match your total cl of all accounts. Say when you applied you had a total cl of $5650 made up of various cc and store cards. So they x that by 2 and boom $11300 cl. They matched my total cl. Congratulations and enjoy. Love my discover.

Re: Discover Card

For my case, I'm at 680 score and was approved for $1000.

Just added my wife in as "joint" instead of AU. She's in 720's club, so maybe she can help make auto CLI happen before the 6th month mark.

Re: Discover Card

At the start of my recent app/credit spree, I only had 2 CC's, Cap 1's, with CLs of $800 $ $520, respectively. I app'd for Discover and a bunch of other credit on 1 single day, and Discover gave me a starting CL of $7,500. Score at the time was only 716 TU. I app'd online and remember a question about income, and I make a decent income and owed no debts at the time of apping, not even $1. So my suspicion is that Discover decides limits with income and current debt playing a larger role than I expected.

All 3 bureaus (per Amex CreditSecure FAKO) are still 748 (as of 12/19/13). Cards: Discover It, $12,100, Chase Freedom $3,300, Chase Amazon $1,500, Walmart store $11,000, AMEX Zync NPSL, Costco Amex $14,700. US. Bank Cash +, $5,000. AMEX SPG $6,000, PenFed Plat. Cash Rewards $17,500, PenFed P-LOC $10,000, Citi Forward $5,100, Chase Slate $5,000, Old Navy, $2,200.

Re: Discover Card

Wow; awesome limit. If you don't don't have a lot of other cards then that's normal for discover. They go high on limits for people who are just getting started because they realize that people have more loyalty towards their first major card issuer. They want to be the card that you never close Smiley Happy
