So I got a standalone dent card from Discover a few months ago. A paltry $500 limit. I am no longer going to school for the foreseeable future, so what happens with this card?

Should I close it and re-app for a normal, or will Discover PC it to a regular (and if so, will they give me a CLI, because $500 is lol-worthy).

I wouldn't close it as it has some age to it, plus you already took an HP to get it and that HP will stay on your reports for 2 years. I would leave it be or PC it if you really want to. I don't think they check if you're enrolled in school beyond the initial verification when you first apply. And PCing wouldn't guarantee a CLI by any means. CLI would depend on your scores and report as well as income.
