Re: Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

Anecdotal evidence isn't really going to help you but FWIW:  Opened with $4,500.  Just recently (a little over 3 months) had it nearly doubled to $9.500 with HP.  As with anything, it all depends on one's credit and the creditor's criteria.

Re: Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

Discover it opened May 2013 @ 3,000

I've never requested an CLI since I've been getting an auto CLI every 3 months.

August 2013, November 2013, Febuary 2014 each at 750.  Brings my new limit to 5,250.  I am hoping this card gets to 10,000 within the next 6 months even if I take a hp.

My Wallet: Amex Express BCE $27,000, Amex Express Blue Sky $6,000, Delta SkyMiles $10,000, Discover $14,000, Chase Freedom $23,500, Capital One $8,000, SAMS $10,000, and LOWES $10,000

Re: Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

I started with a $1,500 limit March of last year. I had an automatic $200 increase in November, and $400 automatic increases in both January and March of this year. I've mostly used the card to transfer an initial balance, and have been making a little over the minimum payment each month. Discover FICO 695.

Re: Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

Opened an Open Roads card 08/2010 with a limit of $2500. The first year I put ~$400 month on it and paid in full every month. I was making a bigger purchase that I wanted to use a CC for in case I had to dispute it. I called 10/2011 to ask if they would increase my CL and was denied (don't know whether it was a HP or not) but I was told I could make the purchase anyways at $2700. I made the purchase and ended up disputing it. Discover investigated for 3 months and then came back and told me that I needed to work it out with the company that wasn't answering phone calls or emails.

I took it up with the company 01/2011 and went back and forth with them until 09/2013. I was only making the minimum payments since I was trying to return the item and my balance got all the way up to $3900 which was 156% utilization. Ended up settling with the company and paid it off in full in 09/2013. Waited until 01/08/2014 and PCd it to a Discover IT and filled out the CLI online. I asked for $7500 but was countered with $6500 and it was a SP. I called back in early February and recon'd the limit up to $10k without a HP. I recently got approved for my car lease and took the HP to get my limit up to $15k. I can't really figure them out since they are conservative with a lot of people and since I carried a balance for 2 years that was over my CL only making the minimum payments.

Re: Discover IT - What is YOUR CLI experience?

not my experience, but my mom's been with Discover for a long time and recently (late last year) PC'ed her Discover More to an IT. She isn't one to habitually request CLI's, yet when she did, Discover only bumped her up about 1.5k (from 11k to 12.5k).
