Hey guys, this is just a tip for those who have the Discover It card & are enrolled in this quarter's CBB promo for online shopping & department stores.
So let me start out by saying I enrolled in this quarter's promotion not expecting to shop online or department stores because I'm broke due to college expenses. Anyway, last statement I noticed that just from the 5% cashback promo (not the 1% everywhere else), I received a little over $6. So I reversed the calculation & divided $6 by .05 which gave me $120. Confused to why I received the $6 being that I didn't shop at any department stores or online retailers, I went through my purchases & added up what I thought could fall in that category. Turns out that I received the CB from paying my T-Mobile phone bill online, & from buying a $30 Discover gift card online for my little brother's birthday.
Yeah I know it's only $6, but I'm almost at the $50 CB balance I need in order to use it as a statement credit. So for all of you guys that have the Discover It this quarter, be sure to pay your phone bill online with your credit card, & even if you don't think you're going to shop online or department stores, buy a Discover gift card for a few hundred dollars to take advantage of the 5%. People talk crap about Discover's rotating categories, but I love my credit card & it's company. there's only a few weeks left before the new CB bonus (gas & ground transportation starting Jan. 2015) so be sure to shop online or buy gift cards.
I spent a little over $300 last billing cycle & got over $8 CB. Not the best but certainly not the worst. It would've been more if I knew Discover gift cards qualified. I can't wait for 5% on gas Jan-Mar, gas prices are going down for me
I hope I put money in at least one person's pocket lol
I love my discover card too! I mainly use it for their Shop Discover as it gives you a discount on a lot of popular online retailers.
You can redeem cashback for any amount. It doesn't have to be at least $50.

I just looked on Discover & realized. They recently changed it though, it used to be that you can only use it as a statement credit when you reach $50

I haven't had the chance to use ShopDiscover as I'm trying to slow down on my online shopping, but I def. can't wait until I use that feauture. I see a lot of cashback opportunities with ShopDiscover.

You can find some pretty good deals.
I don't use my Discover very often but recently have taken advantage (twice) of ShopDiscover to get 15% cashback from PetSmart.
That's exactly what I do with my Discover card. I just mainly use it on Shop Discover.
I wonder if they'll give me 5% for my AT&T bill. If so that's great.

Me too....really love it because I like the convenience of online shopping...especially Walmart as I hate to go to the stores..and every once in a while I swipe the card overseas when it is accepted. Looking forward to test the results on ground transportation in Europe. . Gas just worked fine this year 😉
