Re: Discover It. First Use

I'm only a month in on mine and I ran over 1,000 through it so far.  I left a 19 dollar balance on it at statement close by accident (forgot about a pending charge).  I had to PIF a few times throughout the month since I only have a 1k limit.  It is a zero interest rate for now though so I am gonna probably try to leave small balances on it just to see if there is a difference from my other high usage card.  I am in the believer group that Discover just wants to see a lot of action on the account.  Hopefully it pays off with an auto CLI some day.

Re: Discover It. First Use

I just ran $800 thru my discover for the first time on vacation. I just got back and plan to pay 1/2 now and the other half when the statement cuts. I want cli increases like most lol.

Re: Discover It. First Use

$1400 is fine and actually was what I was going to suggest based on the CL. If you don't plan to PIF the big charge, I would at least pay it down to $1000 the first month.

I prefer to put smaller charges (<$300) on my new cards at first and then once I get some PIF history, if I need to make a big charge then, I will. I just don't want to start off paying a new card in installments. But that is just me (paranoid over AA) and I don't think there is a right or answer regarding small vs large charges.

Re: Discover It. First Use

As long as you give it some use you'll get a six month CLI.  Just don't make it out and leave it that way.  Your plan is fine.
