Requires Amazon Prime to get the 5%, whereas Sallie Mae doesn't. Sallie Mae > Amazon Store Card.

Unless you spend more than $750 per month, in which case Amazon Store Card > Sallie Mae.  And I would think most serious amazon users would have prime.

(BTW, I don't use either as the Citi Forward beats both)

I just recently got my discover it but didn't they have amusement parks as a bonus category Before or am I imagining things ? 5% cash back at Disney would have really came in handy..

They have Six Flags, but you can't get to it from the site in any obvious way - it's still there on the app though -- Earn 5% Cashback Bonus on all purchases made at Six Flags from 1/1/15 (or the date on which you sign up, whichever is later) through 12/31/15.  Only purchases made at Six Flags parks and www.sixflags.com will qualify.

Yeah, but some people are in the garden and don't want to apply for that card, and may already have a Discover; others may be interested in a Discover but don't want a store card for Amazon, etc.  I personally just find Amazon more handy than home improvement stores and traditional department stores, myself.

This would be me.  No discover, if at all, until mid 2016.  Not interested in store card.  I am gardening.  PS, there is no guarantee of six months amazon, but it is a possibility.

I know, I'm just saying if history repeats then Amazon will be in "holiday shopping" in Q4 again.  They usually do "online shopping" that quarter (or at least they have the last couple years) so if they do it again then it will be.

We won't really know until around August, though.

I'm more excited for the 5% department stores, but the Discover may come in handy for school supplies. I'll probably drop $1000 on books in August, althoughI have two SMs to run the spend through.
