Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

I think it might be best that you wait not because you might get denied but because the hard pull will hurt your score. My util was 2% with credit karma score 773 and my score when down 30 points after the app. I almost literally flipped out when I saw it. The score climbed back up but it's still not 773. If you don't need the card then just wait. I'm sure they'll later come out with monetary incentives when you apply which they do not have right now.

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

I think you have a shot. I was approved last month. Score Discover sent me was a 675 and I had 6-7 INQs plus a 9.7 year old BK 7 and 1 collection from 2009. $1000 CL.

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

Well I did not know your util was that high, definitely wait until you reduce it below 15%.

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

Wait garden for awhile work on UTI then apply

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

I agree with those that advise wating until util. is lower.  Discover seems willing to overlook mistakes that are 5 yrs old or older, but current high utilization is most likely going to be a problem.  BTW, when I got my card in March they pulled TU.

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

I apped yesterday with 30% uit and was approved. However they only offered me a $1500 CL to start. I don't know if my utilization % had anything to do with that or not. My current cards have limits of $1500 and $1000, I feel that was more likely the cause of the low initial CL.

Starting Score: EQ 599, TU 577
Current Score: EQ 703 9/20/14(HI 741 on 5/13), TU 690 10/1/14 (HI 751 on 5/13), EX 700 10/1/14
Goal Score: 750+

Re: Discover It...Should I apply??

I apped with 15% util across 4 cards and was given a starting limit of $1200. I think they cared more about income than utilization in my case.

I Have Way Too Many of These.
