I have had a Discover More card for almost 7 months now (since march 20th 2012), and I keep trying to request a CLI and some say they dont know why they cant submit the request and other CSRs say i have to wait until the card is 12 months old. Has anyone else had to wait 12 months to request a CLI?
I just think that 12 months is ridiculous, the card is in good standing and at a 1k limit.
I was told 6 months when I chatted with a CSR last week.
Ya thats what everyone else is saying, I dont understand.

Perhaps you just don't qualify for some reason, IME: Discover likes to see heavy usage. I started at 1k as well and used the card heavily which resulted in having to make multiple payments during the month. I tried for a CLI online and got the message to call. When I called, I told them that the limit was insufficient to support my spending. They were able to see that I put an avgerage of 2k through the card. They asked me how much I wanted my CL to me and I told them 3k and it was approved.
I use it for EVERYTHING, I use it 2-4 times a day, ive put a total of $6,500 through it since i got it

Why is it ridiculous? are your scores really high? do you have other cards that have much higher credit limits? getting denied a CLI is a bummer, but these banks are loaning you the money so if they dont want to give you more then thats up to them. Unless your income/scores/other CL's show you should get a higher limit i dont think you should feel entitled to a higher limit. Im not sure if this sounds mean or not but im not trying to be mean, im just voicing my opinion.
I have 1500 from kay jewelers, and 2500 from barclaycard, and you misinterpreted the post. i was not denied for a CLI, i was told that i am not able to even REQUEST a CLI

Either way you didnt get the CLI. I've heard Discover is conservative too. Maybe try calling again and getting a different CSR or have the call escalated to somebody with more power?
ya ive thought about doing that, i just had the card PCd to the IT and they will call me when the statement cycles on the 4th to complete the change and ill ask then
