Re: Discover is in a good mood, just ask them!!

I've had my account for a couple years. Maybe 3. It started at 1000.00 and CLI to current 6300. They won't budge and the last CLI denial letter said i dont use enough of my current CL to warrant an increase. My APR has always been 23.99%. Although I am credit card debt free, I haven't used the card on principal. Having nothing to do with carrying a balance. I have scores in the 760's, I should have a better rate then 24%. That's why I haven't been using it.

My understanding is that instead of 1% back on EVERYTHING , it's 3%. But it is definitely a total of 8% back up to 1500 for Amazon, Target.

I'm still very skeptical about this.  I'll have to contact Discover CS later and inquire about 3% back on everything.  It just doesn't make sense to me that they would do this, as that's 50% greater back than during the promo period of the first year when you get 1%+1% for 2%.

So now you're saying that it's an additional 2% (over 1%) on non-category spend but an additional 3% (bringing it to 8%) on the rotating categories.

I think it's great to be skeptical.  And I did not say this was something everyone will get. As stated in my initial post, I read about it in an email that I got from doctor of credit. I am sure many people on these boards know what that forum is and how accurate and reliable their information is.....

I did not have to take a HP, all I did was go into chat, tell them what I wanted, and to me, they offered 3% cash back and then I asked about a lower APR.  I told her I don't use the card because of the APR and she lowered it to 0% for a year.

Need further clarification, go look up discover on doctor of credit.

Good luck!!

After looking up the article in question and reading comments the answer is yes.

Re: Discover is in a good mood, just ask them!!

I love Discover, and I feel like a schmuck that I'm not using it more right now, especially since it's my first year with the card and I'm getting the cashback match. But it seems like I'm perpetually in a state of trying to reach a minimum spend for a sign-up bonus. Hopefully I can finish with my most recent one soon enough, and can give Discover some love through my anniversary date in March. Then I've got to give DoubleCash some attention...it's been neglected. Darn Chase and AmEx with their shiny sign-up bonuses!

Contemplating getting a Discover It Miles card once I reach my anniversary with the current card. 3% cashback/miles for a year on everything sounds kind of nice.

Tried calling Discover and asking about any available current promotional offers, alas no luck though...  Smiley Sad

ETA:  tried the chat route and was able to receive a promo 0% APR on new purchases for 12 months
