I'm going to sock drawer my Discover card after I PIF and start using my Freedom card.

Yeah! Discover's cashback really does suck. Wonder how they even got recognized as the "cashback" card?!? Lol
Easy! They just printed it on the card... ![]()

May I ask why? You must do at least some online shopping this holiday season.

Discover isn't really widely accepted here on the west coast. It's either Mastercard or VISA. I always seem to run into that problem of "Sorry we don't accept Discover" so I end up charging a different card...my VISA and having a balance on more cards than I like.

HUH...I am also on the west coast, Bay Area to be exact and I don't seem to have that problem. For example, last quarter was gas. Every single major gas station I have seen takes Discover. This quarter is online shopping and almost all major online retailers accept it. I guess I have so many reward cards now that I only use Discover for bonus categories + ShopDiscover for maximum cashback. Oct 26th is another 2% back that stacks with the 5%. Hell just pay your cell phone bill online and get 7% back. I respect your decision, just giving my .02.

Yea. I'm in So Cal area. I hate using my card at the gas station...unless I really have to! I don't see a point in paying an extra 45 cents for gas b/c I used my card. I'll keep my account open, I just won't use it as much. Plus, I have a much higher limit on my Freedom card. UTL purposes.

+1. If they did, I'll protest businesses that don't accept Discover. Win win! ![]()
