+1
I probably have a good chance of getting approved although I have a string of 30 & 60 day lates in 2009. My most recent late is 01/2010 but that is being deleted. After that my most recent late will be 12/2009.
Honestly, Discover is probably 3rd/4th on my list. I want to build the Chase Freedom + Sapphire Preferred combo. I'll PC my Slate to Freedom in 11/2012 and apply for CSP again. After that, an AMEX, then Discover.
For some reason I find the Discover just kind of limited with their rewards program.
Well, they broke the record. They sent me 3 pre-approval letters last week.
Interesting enough, there are no SP on my report from them. Atleast not on my EX.

It is "limited", but the customer service is by far one of the best.

So before, I didn't get any offers on their website. They started showing up 3 days ago. It started with 1 offer, yesterday 2 offers, and today there were atleast 20+ offers. A lot of them were the same cards but different terms and welcome bonuses.
The highest welcome bonus I ever got in the mail was $100, but the site showed up to $200 bonus.
I chatted w/ a CSR earlier and she basically said that preapprovals did not increase approval odds. Its all just marketing.
I ended up apping for the $150 bonus with 0% 6 months. APPROVED with $3500 CL!!
Hope this thread ends up helping someone.
Nice job! I used to get those preapprovals too but didn't have them on the site. Even though I like the customer service, I don't think it's a fantastic reward card with the exception of the 5% off.

Discover is just a really good no frills card to have, simply because of the great CSRs, no AF, they won't take AA for any reason, and they tend to offer great promotional rates if you call in

Initially, I didn't think much of their cards, and found their rewards program limiting.
As with most cases, once you get beyond the surfact, you start to unearth the benefits were better than what it appears. I've found this out with Discover, along with being very pleasantly surprised at their customer service, which is world class.
I'd have to say, aside from the Platinum card, I'd say Discover's customer service is better than I've experienced on Amex.
