Discover - why should this make my list?

just for the 5% rewards that change earch quarter....

besides that. a discover really doesn't add anything new to one's wallet. 

The 0.25% cashback sucks and if you are a student, they will never increase your limit..

Shop discover is awesome.  Not only that, but the cash back is fairly easy to redeem and the 5% categories are normally solid.  It's probably the best card for online shopping.

I just did the same thing on Moosejaw, 20% on their site, 15% back through shop discover, then 5% CB for online purchases...  60 dollar North Face Sweather ended up costing me less than 30 bucks and I got free 2 day fedex air through shop discover...

another plus for discover is you can use your cashback for gift cards worth more than the actual cash back... for example they have 50.00 Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards for 40.00 cash back
