How long have you had the Discover card? I was confused as to whether you upgraded to IT from a different card 3 months ago or the entire account is 3 months old. If your account is new, they won't CLI you this early in the game. I've had a Discover card for over a year now. They were one of the first PRIME lenders to take a chance on me considering my limited history. I started out with a 1.5k limit even tho I had run a balance to 1.4k on the card and even went over my limit to 1.6k...all over the limit charges they approved with no fee. Quickly paid the balance off and they bumped me to 2k...with a HP of course but it was worth it. Discover is a good lender. They may not always give you want you want but they try. Yo can't beat having a credit card with the entire customer service team based in the USA. I would think twice before severing your relationship with them. Just saying...but ultimately it will be your choice.
Sorryy typos...
I'm confused as to why you're mad at Discover. You wanted 6x your intial CL after only having the card for three months. I don't think their counteroffer was unreasonable under the circumstances. Also, most customer initiated CLIs are going to be HPs. Not everyone is Amex. Congrats on more than doubling your CL - you can try for a CLI in another 3 months. With continued use, I'm sure you'll be able to get to "5 digits" with them then.
I agree with other posters.... Your credit is not nearly good enough to have double digits limit with Discover...you may think you have perfect credit but you have a relatively thin credit profit... look at your Amex BCE it's only $2k limit... probably just opened that too... cli with discover just 3 months its very hard to do so you should be thankful with the credit line you are at now... why do you need that much limit if you don't even use it? if you are considering ending relationship with conversative lenders you should just close out the accounts... so you don't have to stress about it. maybe build and establish your credit history and reapply in the future

I agree. Why would you be mad at Discover when declined for a 6X CLI after 3 months with very little usage.
If I was a lender, I would like to see usage and payment history with me before granting something that high. As other have said, just because one lender takes risk, it doesn't mean all others will follow.
And further more, why would they offset 24k in limit when you are barely using your initial 4k.
That means they wont be able to grant those funds to others who DO spend heavily.
+1

Not even giving me an CLI and I have 95K in available credit across 4 other cc's. 3K they gave me, I've spent 3K on it paid it down now as going into my sock drawer. They gave me 15 months 0% APR so I used a bit, paid some down, used a bit paid some down. Not sure if that was the issue. Fico is about 720 now
I am also not happy with my CL of 2,5K but looking at my own behaviour I have full sympathy with Discover's fear. After all it was me that went from 8,5K total CL to 74,5K total CL within a few months (6 new accounts)...and when looking at my reports I do not even see an AR from Discover. All others have done AR nearly every month. I have the card now for 9 months and simply will wait it out... not all lenders are as liberal as Amex (got both cards at the same time) ... Customer service for Discover is 5* - called a few times for CLI and felt they tried very hard to help me but since I refused a HP their hands were tight. I am still happy with the card and the service and I am sure one day also with the CL
