Re: Disgusted with HSBC

I think we also need to differentiate if we are talking about the Orchard card or the HSBC card.  I have had my Orchard card for over 3 years. Started with $300 and received no auto cli's ever.  The only CLI's I have received (two for $100 each) I had to pay for. There are some who have had luck with Orchard, however more have not. So far I am having luck with my true HSBC card.

My last score on 6/13/08 was 673. The last baddie I had was in 2002. I had two recent hard pulls and two that were done in July 07.

I am curious as to which type of card that you have with HSBC.  I just received a 1000 dollar CLI from them recently.  Now mind you, I have a Cash or Fly MC that I received just last summer with an initial limit of 750 dollars and the limit is at 2350 dollars right now (with a little over 50% utilization).  They give CLI's roughly ever 6 months.  But you have to put the card to work.

According to my monthly statement I have a Household Bank Platinum MC. I've never been late with them but I guess I haven't really used their card in a while in an effort to pay it off. Maybe I'll take the kids out to lunch today.

Did you call a backdoor number? I've asked for a CLI and i'm told they are only auto.

Should I try the regular customer service # or the executive customer service #?

Re: Disgusted with HSBC

Hello NSC

HH Card they rarely give me CLI,

But on my Best Buy MC I get an increase every 6 month

I call them always ask for the CLI, and i ask before they pull if it is a hard or soft hit

Its always soft, and i gets it

Never ask for a CLI on the Internet it is a HARD HIT

Re: Disgusted with HSBC

I'm disgusted as well... let me make sure I understand this, this is on my new statement for this month:

Previous Balance:  $216.17
Payments & other credits: $216.17
Finance charge: $16.00

If my previous balance was $216.17 and I paid $216.17, that is PIF right?  And there shouldn't be a finance charge right?

Not necessarily.  There are three ways you could PIF and still have finance charges.

1) You did not PIF the month before, which meant that you had no grace period for that billing period, and the finance charges you are seeing are residual finance charges as a result of making purchases with no grace period.

OR

2) You did PIF in time for your payments to post to your statement, but you did not PIF by the payment due date.  You will be assessed finance charges in this scenario.

OR

3) Due to the round number ($16), I'm inclined to think that this isn't a finance charge from interest, but is a fee of some sort.  (Fees ARE a form of finance charges, as specified in the T&C.)
