With Barclays closing down the Sallie Mae MC, I'm looking for my next best option to get cashback for groceries purchases. I do almost all of my grocery shopping at a Walmart Superstore with a supermarket. The Sallie Mae MC has given me 5% back reliably. Does the Amex BCE/BCP credit these purchases in the grocery category as well? Can anyone speak from experience?
No it does not.
Amex, and most all credit cards nowadays consider large walmart type stores including Fred Meyer and Target as Super Stores and not Grocery stores. What's confusing about it is they code them as supermarkets and grocery but you don't get the extra points. I've only ever got the points at stores like safeway, Albertsons, wholefoods and new seasons. Definitely not at walmart target or wholefoods.

That sucks. It looks like I will have to go hunting for another credit card to put groceries on. I was hoping to stay in the garden for a while.

Even though they don't count Walmart as a grocery store, you're probably saving more shopping there and foregoing the bonus cash back vs going to a "regular" grocery store and getting the 6 percent.
Agreed, the "grocery stores" in my area can be 2-3x higher than Walmart on things.
Where most of my family is it's foolish not to go to Wal-Mart for the majority of your grocery shopping... it's simply the best option, hands-down.
However I'm in an area where there's Kroger, and I can consistently beat Wal-Mart prices on most things even before you consider the BCP 6% cash back. After you include fuel points that locks it in for me. I do shop the sales, though, and that might make a difference.
There were many months last year where Kroger was the only merchant on my monthly BCP statement. I've jokingly referred to it as my "Kroger credit card", with occasional use at Publix, of course.
So does anyone have a recommendation for best reward card to use at Walmart supermarkets and get credited cashback?
Does the Huntington Voice MC credit the 3% cashback for groceries at Walmart?

Either the UMB Simply Rewards VISA credit card, or one of the 36 versions of that card that are offered by other banks and credit unions with credit processing handled by UMB.
3X on Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Discount Stores, Restaurants & Fast Food. So whether your Walmart cash registers are coded as Grocery Store, or Discount Store, that card is likely to give you 3X in either case.

I assume the second wholefoods is meant to be something like Fred Meyer
