About 7-8 years ago, I used to have a providian visa account with a credit limit of $1500.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, i couldnt pay the balance and it went to a collection agency. It is no longer listed on my credit report.
I have been working on rebuliding my credit for the past few years.
I currently have BOA Cash rewards --- $3000 CL, US Bank Cash+ ---- $5000 CL, Capital one Platinum (rebuilder card) - $750 .
I would like to add chase to my list of credit cards. Wondering if my past problems with providian will limit my chances with Chase.
Does any one know if Chase blacklists if you have burned them(or providian) in the past?
for a charge off that old probably not, even if they do you shouldn't get a hard inquiry if your blacklisted in most cases. but Chase is usually good with goodwill requests and only TRULY blacklists if you try to cheat them intentionally like manipulating the rewards system.
I do not believe they do. I have a BK with Chase included 4 years ago and they approved me for a Slate card last month.
They do for 10 years. If you are on the black list and get denied it will be a soft pull. Been there and done that. I am more responsible now.
Thanks for the tips friends.
Does chase offer secure credit card? If they do, I wouldnt mind going that direction.

no they dont. they have the liquid but thats a prepaid card
okay, Thanks!
Only way to know for sure is to app for a card with them. I have a unpaid chase card and 8 years later they were kind enough to give me another chance. They did mention my previous unpaid card and I had to explain why I did not pay that bill. It took calling chase at least 4 attempts before finding a customer rep that was cool enough to open an account for me.My starting limit is only $500 but the opportunity to built is now possible. Try hard and much is possible.
I applied for a Freedom card last week. Called a couple days after applying, denied for an old charge off from '99!
