I have a JC Penney and a Belk.
My mom has Wal-mart and Belk.
I did app for a Dillard's but I was denied for too many inq's ...go figure. I got those inq applying for those cards. I love my GEMB cards. We already have gotten a CLI on the JCPenney. They are a little stingy with the CLIs when you ask, but the auto CLIs seem pretty generous. The JCP went from 200 to 1000. Still not a lot but my scores were in the low 600s then.
Lowes approved me instantly in July, 2008 with 2K starting CL. In January, 2009 they doubled it to 4K. Always PIF.
Thanks for all the replies everyone. I have not yet decided if I will try for the Lowe's card or not. I was able to close on the house on Monday, so we spent all day yesterday trying to decide which projects to tackle first with the cash we had combined with any credit that I "might" be able to get. Ultimately, I decided to take a shot at getting some carpet financed from a local outlet store who uses Wells Fargo and American General. I got denied from both of their financing sources. Now, I would still like to consider a Lowe's card. However, I just got dinged with two inquiries yesterday, and I have a secured CC from US Bank that I want to try unsecuring (need to reach EQ 680) and I will also be needing a more reliable vehicle soon. If I knew I could get a reasonable CL, it wouldn't be so bad because it wouldn't be much of a UTL hit. Even then, I don't want to do anymore damage to my AAoA.
Decisions, decisions...
oh man. We will be in the same boat. Hopefully we can get the lowes card so we can buy appliances. We will be paying back the $$ once our Tax Credit comes in.
Hopefully Lowes will be nice
Regarding the Lowes' card, I was initially approved for $600 in May 2008. I had a ton of inquiries due to my mortgage shopping and refinancing my car. I'm at $2700 and I occassionally use the card. However I do use the card for the 0% financing. But I do PIF.
