I have been receiving pre-approval letters in the mail from Cap One for an auto loan. How likely is it that they approve me for a CC if I applied? OR is there any connection?
I guess I just rationalized that if they are offering me a car loan, then maybe a CC would be approved as well.

Auto loans are different manimals than CC - auto loans are secured by the vehicle. Sometimes it's easier to get a car loan than a CC.
Cap One has a pre-approval site for CC's that you might want to check out.
Even better, do some homework and find the cards that would work best for you and your credit report - then you'll know the card(s) YOU want.
