Doing the happy dance for Amex right now!

So now that my scores and reports have improved I was thinking about apping for something new. I held off because I'm refinancing my home in October and didn't want any new accounts.

I was looking over some old records last night and came upon payment records for my old Amex credit card. It was one of the first cards I had opened around my 18th birthday in 1999. The card went delinquent and was closed BUT according to my records had been PIF to Amex.

So last night I decided to give it a shot and apply for the Rewards Plus Gold Card. The reason being that I could spare 1 inq if I didn't get it and if I did that I could try and get the card dated 1999. I got a msg that it couldn't process in 60 seconds. I couldn't sleep last night, I was tossing and turning waiting to call. I called first thing this morning and after a minute on hold, "I have good news for you today My. Gary your account is approved. I see you've been a member with us since 1999 so welcome back and I'd like to expedite the card to you at no cost, you will be receiving it in 2-3 business days."

How stoked am I right now to be getting a shiny new Amex with 9 years of history!! Smiley Very Happy

This is further confirmation of why folks
are so loyal to American Express. Going
above and beyond the norm is par for the
course, and they take really good care of
their members. Smiley Happy

And you're right - it's SWEET to get a brand
new card with 9 years of history already built in! Smiley Very Happy

Once again, Congrats on the "new" card! Smiley Happy

Well done.

And welcome (back) to the Amex club!!
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

I'm itching to do the same thing. I had an AMEX opened in 1988 and closed in good standing. If I could be assured I'd get the 20 year history, it could be worth a quick EX inquiry....

Not could be, ficonovice. It most definitely would be! Smiley Happy

card with 20 years of history already built in??!!!! Smiley Surprised

I'd be all over it if I were you. Give them a call and see what's up. Smiley Happy
