I applied about 3 hours ago for the Gold Delta Skymiles CC and the rep said that I would get an answer in 7 to 10 days. I assume that is better than a straight up denial.

Since you've already apped, might as well app for a charge card (Green, gold, PRG, etc). It's my understanding they won't perform another HP, and the requirements for a charge card are lower than a revolver.

Call back and talk to a rep. Explain that you just apped for a revolver and wanted to app for a charge card in the same sitting. And forgot. Or something. Get creative! Lol 
Just tried for the Green Charge Card and got the same 7 to 10 day message. Oh well. It was worth a try.

Hell yeah it was worth a try! I advocate getting as much out of a HP as you can.
