Re: Duck card approval profiles

[ Edited ]

Applied Oct.12 for the Duck card. Received Instant Approval. Didn't bother to call and ask CL. Waited it out and finally received a letter  with my credit score on Friday Oct. 18

EQ score of 819. Oldest account is 16 years 10 months old. AAOA is 7 years. My utilization at time of application was 6%. No negatives on any of my CRs

4 INQ on EX, 3 INQ on EQ, 4 on TU. Received the card in the mail today with a $15000 CL and APR is 9.99%

I'm currently in the rebuilding phase. Just recently applied and was approved for Discover IT ($1500) and Capital One ($300) in August.

Debating whether I want to try for the Beaver card too. I may use the card well for a few months just to establish a good relationship with them before trying for the Beaver card.

Re: Duck card approval profiles

Congrats! Thats an excellent limit.

None of us have made an attempt at both the Duck and the Beaver.  I think I would be cautious about that since it is a smaller credit union.  Wouldnt want to frighten them.

Re: Duck card approval profiles

Thanks, DiabolicallyRandom. Congrats to you too on the approval and CL. I was just happy with the nice CL. This should help me establish a better credit history. Definitely help with Utilization. Maybe in a few months I can use this credit limit to talk Discover and Capital One into giving me larger CL. Not holding my breath on Capital One.

Now I am curious about CLI. They seem to be generous with inital CL. This card by far is my largest CL.

Time will tell if they are also generous with  CLI.

Re: Duck card approval profiles

FWIW I was approved with 33% util, however I am high earner.

Got congrats instant approval mesasge and says card will arrive 7-10 days (not to be confused with 7-10 day message).

My highest CL's are in the 30-50k range so I am interested to see what this one is since I have seen some high lines with people here with less profile than mine :smileyhappy:

Am I way off in concluding that the Duck/Beaver card is best for people with already high scores and the necessary incomes for high initial CL's but who currently don't with other lenders for whatever reason?

Based on the profiles and CLs and declined, I would say that is accurate. It's probably a good alternative for people who can't get into Navy, to get a cc with high CL. But they need the good credit first.
