I have been receiving pre-approvals for Amex BCE cards for a half a year now. But I have been afraid to apply. Recently I tried for a PC from my Slate to Freedom and was told I was ineligible, and three clerks literally could not tell me why. GAWR! Then tried for a CLI from 4k to 5k for my US Banks FlexPerks Cash Rewards so I could be eligible for Cash+ card, but was declined (have called for recon and is getting manually reviewed by different department). So I was ticked - not feeling the love, so I applied for Amex BCE card. Approved instantly online! Called into customer service to find my credit limit. 15,000!?!?! Wth!? That's more than half my annual income. Either they made a mistake, or they really want me in their family! My first Amex card! Other cards: US Bank Flexperks Cash Rewards 4k (4.5 years old) Chase Slate 3k (2 years) Discover More 3k (1.5 years) Citibank Platinum 1k (1 year) Kohls $600 (3.5 years) FICO Transunion: 740 pulled July 2012 So yeah. Happy again. Even if they reevaluate my Amex and lower it to 2k, I am still HAPPY. Not so much with US Bank and Chase right now.

Congrats. Hope it is accurate. These things happen. If 15k, then use lighty for a couple of months and see if you can get 61 day cli. Either way, having that card report for a few months and can use it to get your other cl up.

probablyt real... AMEX has been known to give 3x your highest CL when approved for a revolver. I got a 6k AMEX blue and my highest showing CL was 2k. I would wait on the CLI for 6 months, Would hate to be countered with 16k or something crazy like that, hopefully at 6 months they would be more willing to give you at least 2x your CL

Wow congrats! They only gave me 1k when I already had a few CCs with 5k limits, and I have been an AU since 1998

Yes, ask for the CLI in 61 days, I'm curious what will happen.
