Escaping Capitol One

I have closed my secure card that I have had with them for 3+ years. , the rep didn't even try to save me when I mention I am in process of evenually closing all 4 of my cedit cards with caption one. Shows you how much the CSR department cares about customer retention.  Funny thing is he introduced him self even as a senior account analyst supervisor. 1 down 3 to go and 3k back in my pocket.

Re: Escaping Capitol One

I want to close my card, but they keep waiving the annual fee.  Until they stop doing that I will keep it open.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Great Job, I did the same thing back in Feb yep and your right they don't even care.  When I closed my HSBC account the same day at least the rep there tried to talk me out of it.  That was before CrapOne purchased HSBC's accounts.

Becareful when closing that the accounts you close are not your oldest accounts.

Take care and good job killing off that bank from your wallet.

Re: Escaping Capitol One

I opened mine in June and plan to keep it open until 6/2014 (may close earlier but not planning on it). I dont like having cards open for less than 2 years.  Granted they will have my funds during this time and its not doing anything for me but thats ok.  The card has been useful and will close it as needed.
