PPA - Pennsylvania Psychological Association

Affiliate: Persons who can demonstrate a legitimate professional, educational or scientific interest in the field of psychology and who are not eligible for a higher level of membership. Examples of such persons may include, but are not limited to, students of psychology and high school teachers of psychology. Affiliates shall have neither voting rights, hold themselves out as members of the Association, nor be eligible for elective office.

it specifically says you can't hold yourself out as a member - I'm pretty sure telling another organization that you are a member of PPA counts as holding yourself out as one...but maybe they wont check - and what's the worst that happens your PPA membership is revoked?

Nah. It means holding yourself out as a member for professional purposes. You could not, for instance, put MAPA after your name.
