Re: FICO 633 to 728 in 11 months, SLOW

Man, you are doing good, it is in the 720's because of those recent accounts and Inq, give it time, stop getting new cards and keep utilization below 10%, in 6 months you  can be close to 750 depending on your profile and when some of the older inq. fall off.

I had a 747 Experian fico after  20 months of c. history with 8 hard inq.  Just give them time to mature, your score will go up. Just follow the rule, big limits, ulitization 1-9%,  and no new credit...

ArmBenderc;

Very few (if any) members of this forum would consider that slow progress LOL.   That is very impressive, we're all very happy for you.

Raising a CS usually takes some serious time and focus.  The fact you never had any lates, really helps with your progress, lowering your UTIL was no doubt the biggest factor.  As others have said, let things age a bit and you'll be over 750 fairly soon.

I'm impressed, keep up the great work!   Smiley Happy

Thanks, and yes, paying down util was the biggest factor. Having tons of inq on each report also hurts.

I'm trying to get both my GE cards to 10k each while I am gardening.

GE Walmart 5k

Paypal Extras Plat MC 5k

Should I ask for 7.5k next or go for 10k? Probably a sure thing with 7.5k baby steps.

Hah I was ticked pick with my 81 points of improvement in a year; seriously at near 100 you are absolutely rockin' the credit building!

FWIW: there's nothing instant gratification about raising FICO, it's probably going to take me another two years to get to 720, and another 3-5 years after that to get to 760 I expect.

My aaoa is 3 years, however, I have tons of INQ on 3 reports from getting 3 cars. I also have 4 new accounts (cap1 green cash rewards, freedom, amex green, and vs) opened from Sept-Oct '12.

If all INQ drops, my score should be around 740+ Smiley Very Happy A person can only hope.

Re: FICO 633 to 728 in 11 months, SLOW

I've said this before but I'll say it again...if you have no recent baddies, the easiest and quickest way to improve your credit scores is to bring down your utilization. I went from a 676 to a 751 in less than 30 days by bringing my utilization down from 60+% to under 10%. Then I apped for the cards/credit I want with no problems. This is best before you are about to make a big purchase, like a car or home.

Payoff large balances, then dispute account balance with the CR agencies and wait for the updates to show up, your scores will improve accordingly. I'd rather make the payment to bring down my balances and improve my credit score vs getting an ok loan with a hight interest rate that could cost thousands, if not tens of thousands over the life of a long term loan.

Really, really impressive work!

Although I've never had bad credit, my credit has felt "stalled" for years. You're an inspiration. You remind me what can be done. Utilization improvement, here I come.
