I've been reading on here for a while now that Macy's gives GLIs every 3 months, and in some instances, every 6 months. I received my Macy's card 10/16/08 with a CL of only $600. I didn't call in for a GLI until mid Sept. '09 only to be told that they couldn't give me an increase at that time. I haven't read of anyone else having this issue and I thought 11 months with no increase from Macy's was odd and not the norm - no GLI, automatic or customer initiated.
As of yesterday I checked my reports and noticed I received a GLI up to $2000. This was some time in the last 3 weeks and at least 2 weeks after I made the call to them when they denied any increase at all.
I'm very happy about this but just wanted to make it clear that some people do not, unfortunately, receive GLIs every 3, 6 or heck, 11 months after they open their card.
Congratulations!
Macy's showed me some love a little early on before the three month mark. Opened the account in August 2009 and before October they added $200 to my measly credit limit.
I'm going to get a little greedy next month and ask for another increase, this time while shopping in the store.
