Freedom is offering 5% back on Restaraunts for this period. Considering the fact that Visa/Mastercard use a different MCC for restaraunts and fast food, it surprised me to find out that Chase is including fast food for this quarter. Just a heads up to all y'all.
Q. What types of merchants are in the Restaurant category?
A. Restaurant category
Merchants in the Restaurant category include fast food restaurants to fine dining establishments. Please note that some merchants that sell food and drinks located within larger merchants that sell other goods or services may not be included in this category; for example, sports stadium concessions and department store cafeterias
Actually, I think this is the "usual" way, US Bank Cash Plus stands out for separating them as 5% categories.
Does anyone know if it includes small restaurants that use Square?

Interesting. The more you know
Yeah, US Banks classification and the different MCC classifications is what kind of led me to believe fast food wouldn't count. Good to know. So Citi Forward is fast food as well, then..
Yes, Citi Forward is fast food as well (and it takes multiple MCCs for in its "entertainment" category.)
Yes, Citi Forward has always explicitly stated that fast food is included:
5 ThankYou Points for every $1 spent on purchases at restaurants (including fast food), bookstores, music stores, video rental stores and movie theaters; 1 ThankYou Point for every $1 spent on all other purchases2

Which is lame as hell! US Bank Cash Plus is really nothing special. Most of the 5% categories are useless (to me anyway).
