I Spoke to the credit bureau dispute department today at WebBank/Fingerhut. She said they are aware they can pull Experian reports, but not reporting to them. She said by December 1,2013 they will be reporting to all three bureaus. She said the previous lender that issued Fingerhut cards did not report to them. When they acquired it their contract was transferred over to WebBank. The contract they have now is to only report to TU and EQFX. But can only pull Experian credit files. They are working on a new contract with all three bureaus she said and by December 1, 2013 all three bureause will report Fingerhut accounts. If after December 1 you don't see it she said call them.
That's good news! It makes buying their overpriced merchandise more bearable for those, like myself, who no longer need a starter account.
Thats really good news. I have had them for three months now and still no cli though hopefully next month.
It's a tricky thing when you're just starting out and Fingerhut only reports to only 2 bureaus. It's especially tricky if you decide to utilize the 0% APR offers and carry a balance. Your overall utilization can be under 30% on 2 credit bureaus, due to Fingerhut's added limit, while right at the 30% mark or more on Experian. That was the case for me. For a while there, I was looking on Creditkarma and seeing my utlization was lower than 30%. Totally forgetting that was only for TU. So my scores were climbing with TU and EQ while staying the same or decreasing on Experian. 761-TU 744-EQ and 694-EX. At this point, having Fingerhut report to Experian makes no difference to my util because I have over 20,000 available credit, but boy...could I have used it back then. As the saying goes---better late than never.
FYI: I got an alert that a new account appeared on my Experian credit report today September 20, 2013. I looked online and WOW Fingerhut/ WEB Bank is on their. They are now showing on my Experian Credit Report as of today. Shows date opened, limit, balance, and payment history.
